Job Description
The Associate Category Manager (ACM) will perform a valuable role in supporting the category advisor team and building a strong partnership with Walmart by supplying merchandising solutions and decision support that drive growth for the business. You will conduct high quality analysis and synthesis of multi-source data to evaluate item performance, assortment planning and store clustering through the modular process, while leveraging effective communication & influencing to orchestrate action.
The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
Develop and cultivate business relationships with the Walmart buying team as a trusted member of the Category Advisor Team.
Develop sustainable and strong category partnerships by providing strategic analytical recommendations that promote total Category & Brand growth
Employ critical thinking and critical thinking skills to recognize and anticipate issues and opportunities by elevating analyses beyond reporting and translate insight into retail action.
Leverage data from multiple sources to create impactful analytics and selling stories to identify risks, opportunities, and performance gaps (i.e., distribution, assortment mix, incrementally, size, shelving, placement).
Provide ad-hoc category management reporting, trend analysis, customized reports, and special project work directly to internal / external leaders, as necessary.
Ensure data integrity and report accuracy by collaborating with internal and external partners
Build, update and refresh weekly and monthly dashboards
Proactively make recommendations on Category assortment, placement, promotions, and pricing for Strategic Customers
Manage multiple projects with conflicting timelines
Reports directly to Senior Category Manager
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Accounting, Data Analytics, related field or equivalent experience
2-3 years of category advisor experience within the CPG industry
CMA (Category Management Association) certification a plus
Advanced analytical skills utilizing Walmart Retail Link, Luminate, and Atlas
Experience with Modular Planning, Development via JDA Prospace
Advanced experience Excel, Access, & Power BI
Experience with Syndicated data such as NielsenIQ, and other data resources (Numerator, Kantar etc.)
Demonstrated ability to build indispensable, collaborative partnerships with retail customers and internal business partners across functional teams.
Strong story telling experience converting data into insights
Excellent leadership, creative problem solving, and project management skills
Exceptional communication skills – verbal, written & presentation
Strong planning/organizing skills; the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Working knowledge of retail merchandising and in store execution tactics
