Department Information
The Office of the University Controller provides leadership and guidance for financial compliance, systems, and services at Indiana University. Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
Provides accounting and fiscal guidance to outline policies and procedures that staff should follow to produce accurate and reliable financial statements, ensure compliance, and mitigate audit risk.
In support of the overall function and senior level accountants, collaborates with campuses, departments, and other functions within the Office of the University Controller to provide reporting tools, guidance, training, and advisory services.
General Responsibilities
Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Following established procedures, performs detailed accounting assignments requiring a basic knowledge of accounting theory and principles.
Assists higher-level Accountants in establishing and maintaining accounting policies and controls, fiscal controls, and financial reports to safeguard the organization's assets.
Performs a variety of accounting assignments such as the preparing, maintaining, and reconciling ledger accounts, financial statements, balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, inventory, receipts and disbursements, computing and distributing labor, material and overhead costs, and capital expenditure schedules.
Provides specialized or general analysis support in various accounting activities, including computing, reviewing, and reporting on data for general ledger and related financial, regulatory, and management reports.

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Additional Information
This is a 2 year, renewable position, which provides participants an opportunity to enhance their professional experiences by collaborating directly with team members in the Office of the Controller. This position has the potential for funding renewal or career advancement within the department.
Work Location
Bloomington, Indiana or Indianapolis, Indiana
This position is eligible to work remotely or to work a hybrid schedule from home and the office, subject to change based on university policy and the department's business needs.
Advertised Salary
The salary for this position is $55,000 a year
