Job Description
Duty Summary
Under the direction of a physician the clinic Nurse is responsible for assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care management.
Job Qualifications
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Medical Technical training
Personal Job Related Skills: Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to document patient care as dictated by a physician in a legible and clear manner, following all local, state, and federal guidelines for documentation.
Licensure, Registry or Certification: Current in CPR
Prior Work Experience: Two years of nursing/medical assistant experience in community health, physician’s office or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Work environment: The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment. The position requires the ability to work under pressure and with a diverse population, including staff, physicians, clients, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public on a regular basis. The position may cause frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Under the direction of a Physician / Physician Assistant provides services and care to clinic clients.
- Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment with recent test results and correspondence and determines needed services per practice protocol;
- Confers with physician regarding any incomplete patient tests/consults or other incomplete orders prior to patient visit;
- Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms;
- Maintains sample medication records, administers medication upon physician order and responds to medication requests per practice protocol;
- Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment;
- Assists with scheduling tests and treatments, pre-certifying patients for hospital care and/or procedures, and processing referrals to other providers;
- Creates, maintains, copies and files patient files, records and other information as needed;
- Compiles and condenses technical and statistical data for reports and records;
- Treats staff, physicians, visitors and patients with dignity and respect;

Other Significant Requirements:
- Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis. (per HIPAA guidelines)
- Follows basic infection control and implements appropriate precautions with direct patient contact and/or handling of potentially infectious materials.
- Adheres to Clay County Memorial Hospital personnel policies
- Performs other tasks as deemed necessary by CCMH Administration.
- Participate/attend annual training on Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan.
