Job Description
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Medical Assistant who values a positive patient experience, working within a team, and is flexible with working in a clinical and business office setting. We are looking for a multi-functional MA who can handle clinical responsibilities and pre-certification and insurance verifications for surgery. This is a position that requires travel with your provider, if applicable. In addition to travel to help cover other MAs as needed.
- Room and vitalize patients keeping patient flow efficiently moving
- Record patient information such as vital signs, medical history, medication lists in the EMR system
- Clean and prepare exam rooms for patients
- Orders appropriate laboratory and/or diagnostic procedures as ordered by a physician. Also responsible for following up on results for tests or laboratory on behalf of the physician. Ensuring the physician assistant/physician is apprised of all results and signs off on each patient.
- Administers medications and injections according to physician direction.
- Provides assistance to physician assistant/physician as requested in office and minor surgical procedures.
- Assist Supervisor in maintaining the medical inventory, cleaning and stocking exam rooms.
- Process patient form requests, contact referring physician offices as needed
- Schedule patients for labs, imaging, and surgeries at multiple facilities, as needed.
- Attends required meetings and assists in certain aspects of managed care with regard to patient third party insurance requirements.
- Participates in professional development and education to maintain current license.
- Travels to all locations with physician for clinic and to cover other MAs in clinic.
- Manage insurance per-certifications and surgical insurance benefits and quotes for all physicians surgeries.
- Contact patients regarding surgery benefits and collect surgery deposits.
- Take messages for patient nurse/physician calls.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous Medical Assistant experience in specialty or ENT, experience with insurance per-certifications and insurance benefits preferred
- Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
- Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
- Current Basic Life Support certificate
