Harborview Medical Center's has an outstanding opportunity for a Part-Time (50% FTE, 20 hours per week) Hours: Tuesdays 12:30-4:30, Wednesday/Friday 8:30-5:00pm, day shift CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT to join our Pediatric clinic! The Medical Assistant will play a key support role on a growing team that values exceptional patient care and collaboration.
The Medical Assistants (MA) at Harborview Medical Center are responsible for patient care, clinic maintenance, and assisting other support and provider staff as needed. The MA is responsible for providing care to a wide range of ethnically and culturally diverse patient population. As such, the Medical Assistant must be able to work with a diverse patient population.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
Perform injections
Prepare and clean exam rooms
Submit medication prior authorizations
Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
Assist in transporting patients as required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board or equivalent
Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
