Job Description
Responsible for the daily operations of the clinic’s reception desk. Explains insurance coverage and payments to patients. Verifies insurance then conveys this information the patient and clinical staff. Researches and understands patients accounts and is able to communicate this information effectively to patients. Assists in the daily operations of the clinic’s reception desk.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensures the expeditious and courteous treatment of all patients by the Receptionists.
2. Is responsible for work schedules, approving work hours and ensuring good attendance records of staff members.
3. Controls and solves patient problems.
4. Supervises, counsels and disciplines staff to ensure appropriate patient care.
5. Reviews and processes payroll sheets documenting Family Medical Leave when needed.
6. Performs all of the duties of a Receptionist.
7. Conducts monthly staff meetings to review problems, progress and to keep staff up-to- date on appropriate clinic issues.
8. Assists in the interviewing and selection of new staff members.
9. Is responsible for securing all referral information for HMO patients.
10. Verifies medical insurance for testing and surgical procedures.
11. Secures certification for medical services including surgery and testing as required.
12. Communicates insurance information to patients in the clinic and also over the telephone.
13. Provides patients and insurance companies with records and medical information as required.
14. Verifies patients Medicaid coverage each month.
15. Schedules appointments for patients.
16. Updates patient information and makes necessary changes in the computer.
17. Verifies insurance for surgeries or office visits and calls patient to discuss coverage.
18. Scans letters, memos, and test results into patient charts.
19. Provides operational and administrative support to the physicians.
20. Insures that supplies are ordered and maintained.
21. Ensures that the Ninety Day Initial Training Program for new employees is fully implemented in a meaningful and timely way.
22. Attends supervisors’ meetings as scheduled and communicates information from the meetings to staff members.
23. Monitors work quality and quantity and formally evaluates staff each year.
24. Ensures that staff members attend all required workshops and schedules additional training as needed.
25. Sorts and delivers mail.
26. Is responsible for knowing the work schedule, observing work hours and maintaining a good attendance record. (See attached attendance and punctuality requirements.)
27. Attends in-service programs as scheduled.
28. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with physicians, administrative staff, fellow supervisors, employees, patients, customers and the public. Exemplifies the Company’s Five Star Program.
29. Follows all corporate and departmental policies and procedures and complies with the Employee Handbook.
30. Performs other tasks as needed or directed.

Pay: $12.50 - $14.78 per hour
