Position Purpose
A patient services representative is responsible for a variety of activities related to patient intake and care. They greet and check-in patients, verify information and enter it into the system, collect payments for services, answer the phone and schedule appointments. This is a full-time position that requires experience, excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
Greet patients and keep informed of appointment status.
Establish and maintain demographics and insurance information using on-line system.
Manual insurance verifications on all patients.
Ensure efficient telephone communication.
Type correspondence, reports, memos, and forms as requested by physicians and/or administration.
Arranges appointments and enters referrals.
Check patients in/out.
Collect co-pays, deductibles, co-insurance and back balances for all services.
Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and their families.
Schedule mutually acceptable appointment times for patients and physicians using computerized scheduling system.
Work as a team member within all other departments.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Print new patient paperwork and all forms needed for the office.
Maintain inventory and submit front office supply order to administration.
Keep front area neat and tidy at all times.
Copy medical information as requested following proper procedures.
Distribute mail/faxes and handle routine correspondence.
Any other work-related duties determined appropriate by management.
