POSITION PROFILE: Certified Medical Assistant
REPORTS TO: Physicians/Administrator/Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: We are looking for a friendly, dynamic Medical Assistant. You are responsible for rendering professional clinical care within the medical practice in support of and as directed by the physicians. Also someone whom is able to travel throughout the Atlanta/Alpharetta/Gwinnett area.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Ø Patient Care Duties:
- Place the patient and parent in the exam room, making sure they are as comfortable as possible. Takes accurate histories and physical exam information. Obtains vital signs, secure chief complaint, and enter the information in the patient chart.
- Assists physicians and mid level practitioners with examination and treatment of patient in a caring manner.
- Anticipate physician/mid level needs.
- Assist physicians with minor office surgeries using sterile procedure guidelines. Set up appropriate surgical instrument tray. Assists with post-op care.
- Take accurate clinical messages within the limits of her/his knowledge and practice policy. May answer patient’s inquiries with respect to medical questions within the limits of knowledge and practice policy.
- Monitor and control patient flow in and out of exam rooms. Explain test and procedures to patients when appropriate.
Ø Other Clinical Care Duties:
- Maintain control over bio hazardous waste, medical equipment and supplies. Follow OSHA guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining all clinical equipment to include sterilizing.
- Ensure that equipment in the exam rooms is functional, clean, and properly set up prior to each patient encounter.
- Keep exam rooms clean and stocked with supplies. Notifies OM of medical supplies that need re-ordering.
- Has working knowledge of medicines, prescriptions and dosage. Call in prescriptions for patients at request of physician.
- Ensure the last office note and any reports are available before pt appointment.
- Monitor physician and mid level workflow and advise of waiting patients if necessary.
Ø Position Requirements:
- Possess the tact to deal effectively with patients, parents, physicians, mid levels, audiologists and other employees in the practice.
- Possess knowledge and experience with modern office procedures and office equipment and medical terminology.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information. Excellent follow-up skills.
- Complies with all regulatory requirements including OSHA, HIPAA, maintenance of clinical skills and certifications, etc.
- Professional in appearance
- High school education or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Completion of a medical assisting course preferred, however specific experience may be substituted. Three (3) years prior experience in a medical practice is preferred but not required.
- Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license.
- Knowledge of Centricity is a plus.

1. Physical Demands:
Lifting Requirements: Assisted 50+ lbs.

Additional physical demands:
Ability to operate clinical equipment such as autoclave, suction equipment, scales, etc.
Ability to adequately understand and use restraint system.
Ability to type on a computer keyboard and use a computer mouse frequently throughout the workday.
2.Visual, Hearing, Dexterity and Mental Demands:
Vision: Adequate to perform essential functions of the job such as reading a computer terminal for long periods. Correctable 20/20.
Hearing: Adequate to perform essential functions of the job such as answering the telephone, listening through a stethoscope.
Speaking: Adequate to perform the essential functions of the job.
Dexterity: Adequate to perform essential functions of the job such as sorting papers, filing notes in patient charts, stapling, operating a computer keyboard, dressing changes, holding children for exams.
Mental: Adequate to perform essential functions of the job. Adequate to handle a fair amount of stress. Adequate to record accurate patient histories and assisting with exams.
3. Working Conditions:
· Position requires individual to be dressed in a uniform 100% of the time. 50 % of the time the individual will be required to wear protective equipment such as gloves.
· Position will require frequent exposure to blood and bodily fluids. Appropriate protective equipment will be provided.
· Exposure to hazardous materials. These materials are primarily cleaning and disinfecting solutions.
