Minimum Qualifications:
Education; Bachelor's Degree supplemented by five years of experience in security or a related field to include lead or supervisory experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license or proof of mobility equivalent may be requested; designation as a Certified Protection Professional issued from a recognized organization is preferred.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
Example of Duties
Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to perform duties related to managing the provision of security to Fulton County facilities, including managing assigned staff, overseeing security equipment, developing and monitoring assigned area budget, and monitoring compliance of all contracted security vendors. Security Manager is distinguished from Security Specialist Supervisor in that the former manages the entire security operation covering Fulton County facilities, whereas the latter supervises assigned staff and oversees daily security operations, but does not manage the entire function.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff: develops and oversees employee work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and control; compiles and reviews timesheets; approves/processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; assists with or completes employee performance appraisals; directs work; acts as a liaison between employees and management; and trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures.
Organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; prioritizes and schedules work activities in order to meet objectives; ensures that subordinates have the proper resources and training needed to complete the assigned work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff to assist with complex/problem situations and provide technical expertise; provides progress and activity reports to management; and assists with the revision of procedure manuals as appropriate.
Manages assigned staff: establishes workload; prioritizes work assignments; evaluates employee performance, interprets and enforces policies and procedures, resolves staff issues, makes hiring or termination decisions/recommendations, oversees and monitors compliance of security contracts and procures contractor services through competitive bidding processes.
Ensures appropriate staff response: oversees investigations and documentation of all safety and security related incidents, including accidents, emergency maintenance problems, and crimes.
Assists senior management in the development, preparation, and administration of assigned area budget, including monitoring expenditures and determining staffing requirements.
Develops, implements and evaluates security plans: reviews operational plans, policies, procedures, and emergency tactics in cooperation with other County departments; develops strategic plans for optimal resource utilization; reviews security reports and activities and determines follow-up actions.
Oversees management of assigned area's Radiation Badge Monitoring Program.
