Job Description
About Oula:
Oula is redesigning maternity care from the ground up. Our modern maternity centers combine the best of obstetrics and midwifery care to deliver a more evidence-based and personalized pregnancy experience. From our patient-centered medical team, welcoming clinic, and remote care platform, we are setting a new standard for pregnancy care that unifies modern medicine and human intuition. Our first clinic opened in Brooklyn in 2021. We’ve since opened a second clinic in downtown Manhattan with plans for more Oula clinics to come.
About the role:
We are looking for a Medical Records Specialist to join our new collaborative maternity practice. We’re searching for an individual who is thoughtful and passionate about providing a best-in-class patient experience, detail-oriented, and excited to join a dynamic and innovative team. This teammate will work directly with our Customer Experience and Clinical Operations teams to maintain the completeness and integrity of our medical records and assist with document review and processing.
This is a full time temporary contract position and is fully remote. The initial contract is a three month period with the possibility of extension and/or permanent hire. The compensation range is $16-19/hour as part of a competitive compensation package.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the process of obtaining medical records for patients transferring care into our practice, including reviewing for completeness and following up with patients and providers as necessary
- Review, upload and map external medical records and test results into our Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system quickly and accurately for clinician review
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and protection of patient health information (PHI)
- Handle external medical record requests, including obtaining required release forms from patient, sending records in a timely manner, and documenting fulfillment of the request
- Route inbound faxed records and documents for processing as needed
You are the perfect candidate if you are:
Passionate about improving maternity care through a combination of clinical care, technology, patient empowerment and education
Ruthlessly organized and detail-oriented in your daily tasks
Committed to providing outstanding service in the maternal healthcare space
Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with both internal and external stakeholders
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Associate’s degree or equivalent professional experience
1-2 years of experience working with Electronic Medical Records in a prenatal, OB/GYN, or fertility healthcare setting
Familiarity with standard prenatal care pathways and testing
Ability to navigate new and evolving processes
Prior experience working with Athena, Dorsata, Slack and/or Google Suite a plus
Spanish or other non-English language proficiency a plus
Data entry speed of 40 keystrokes per minute required
Excited about the opportunity and fast-paced work environment of an early-stage company
Oula's Commitment as an Equal Opportunity Employer:
We want you to know: You can be a great candidate even if you don't fit everything we've described above. You can also have important skills we haven't thought of. If that's you, don't hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself (especially in your cover letter – this is where you can really state your case for \*why you\*).
