Job Description

The Utility associate is responsible for general kitchen sanitation. Responsible for performing various kitchen cleaning and storage activities but not limited to dish washing, pot washing, general and equipment cleaning in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards. Responsible for receiving, storage and rotation of food and supplies.

DISHWASHER QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA-MSDS sheets and procedures
Excellent attention to detail and high cleaning standards
Must have knowledge of the safe operation of all kitchen equipment
Must have knowledge of fire, safety, and infection control procedures
Must convey a positive and professional image to residents, family members, visitors and co-workers
DISHWASHER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:
Keep dishes clean and sanitized
Wash and sanitize pans in compartment sink
Keep kitchen floors swept and free of trash and debris
Complete kitchen closing duties as described by Chef to include sweeping/mopping kitchen floors nightly
Ensure proper storage of all delivered food and ingredients
Keep walk-in cooler, freezer, and dry storage area clean and organized
Take out all trash and boxes and discard in proper dumpster
Store food properly for infection control
Clean equipment and work areas according to routine schedule
Report any equipment maintenance or disrepair promptly to supervisor
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef

Neat appearance, adherence to dress code and good personal hygiene is expected
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
In the kitchen working conditions can be hot, humid, and sometimes cold. Kitchen areas can become congested and noisy during meal preparation and service times. -80% of time
In the kitchen working conditions can be hazardous as work requires contact with stoves, griddles, refrigerators, food mixers, food processors, meat slicers, dishwashing equipment, sinks, knives, and various utensils, pots and pans. Other hazards in the kitchen also include steam, wet floors, hot oil, and cleaning equipment
Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, reach, push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds to perform cleaning tasks and for stocking purposes on a repetitive basis using proper body mechanics
Possible exposure to unpleasant odors
Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual
Possible exposure to verbal aggression from vendors, guests, residents and/or family members
Continuous exposure to clients and/or family members who may be under stress
Working hours are as agreed with the Executive Chef. Weekend duty can be expected
