Job Description
Position Summary: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs medical assisting duties as required, including, but not limited to the responsibilities outlined in this job description. These duties should be executed maintaining an attitude of professionalism and within the scope of required competencies for a medical assistant.
Working within a specialty area of practice, the Medical Assistant will provide direct patient and provider supportive services. The Medical Assistant will be trained in the specialty area and have a strong desire to performance additional duties pertaining to the specialty area, within the scope of practice of a Medical Assistant.

What You'll Do
- Competently operates standard office equipment which may include a photocopier, phone, fax machine, various point-of-care testing and oxygen.
- Competently operates medical office software.
- Efficiently receives and screens the patient, identifying needs and implementing them in preparation for the provider’s exam. This may include vital signs, proper positioning, and obtaining specimens as per nursing protocol.
- Correctly assesses patient's physical and cognitive capabilities and gives additional assistance as indicated, i.e. assistance disrobing, completion of forms, wheelchair/stretcher transfers, etc.
- Competently assists providers in procedures. This may include PAP smears, suturing, lesion removals with biopsy, use of sterile field, cryotherapy, colposcopy, chemical cautery, contraceptive implantation and IUD insertion and removal, pessary fitting and cleaning and other specific procedures.
- Performs other clinical tasks which may include venipuncture, ECG, urinalysis, blood glucose, hemoglobin A1C, urine pregnancy test, specimen collections, influenza and COVID-19 testing, wound card and dressing changes.
- Understands and accurately communicates instructions, information and/or concepts according to provider orders utilizing proper medical terminology and grammar. Example: telephone messages, triage of phone calls, patient education, referrals, scheduling appointments, and documenting such according to established office policy.
- Files correspondence and lab work efficiently and accurately and with regard to patient confidentiality according to established office policy.
- Maintain a safe and orderly working environment with proper care and maintenance of medical equipment and instruments. Restock supplies as indicated.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program is required.
- 2 Plus Years of Medical Assisting work experience is preferred.
- Registered or Certified Medical Assistant is required.
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
