Medical Assistant Job Description
We are currently seeking a hard working Medical Assistant who puts the patient first, provides top quality patient care, and is able learn quickly and keep up in a fast-paced environment.
Medical Assistant Responsibilities and Duties
- Determines patient care needs and directs patients accordingly
- Prepares patients for examinations
- Obtains medical records and vital signs
- Proper set up of test films and/or CD’s for view
- Ensures medical exam rooms are fully stocked, organized, clean and disinfected
- Maintains medical supply inventory in patient treatment areas
- Drafts routine correspondence
- Handles the distribution of progress notes to referring physicians, workers compensation carriers, vocational rehab, central billing office, etc.
- Maintains filing systems for test results, patient/clinic documents
- Provides patient education
- Handles patient related phone calls, to include prescription refills and general questions
- Documents information regarding all performed procedures in medical records
- Responsible for completing patient orders to include prescription and tests
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Comply with current HIPPA and OSHA guidelines to ensure the safety and privacy of the patients and other employees
Medical Assistant Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma and at least (12) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- MA, LPN, CNA, PCT, CPT certification preferred but not required
- Must have or quickly obtain BLS-Basic Life Support and maintain continuing education and renewals for clinical certification
- Ability to write, read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to patients and other employees of the organization
- Word, Excel and Outlook required
- Medical specialty software training is available
- Must be able to use a fax machine, copier and multi-line telephone system
Medical Assistant PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Regularly required to stand or walk
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
