Job Description
SUMMARY: As the Front Desk Receptionist, you will play a vital role in the daily flow of patient intake and level of customer service our patients receive. Although prior medical reception experience is preferred, especially in the eye care field, we will provide you with our extensive and thorough training program even if you have nothing more than a great desire to enter the medical field for the first time. You should be able to communicate professionally, be comfortable working in a medical environment, be highly organized, have a strong customer service background, possess excellent computer and organizational skills, and embody a welcoming/friendly demeanor.
Your schedule will vary, dependent on the operational hours of the office you are assigned to. You must have the flexibility to work within these hours of operation, including occasional weekends, early mornings, or late evenings as needed.
Job Duties & Essential Functions:
Answer incoming calls and route appropriately
Provide accurate messaging documentation if applicable
Greet patients immediately upon arrival and apply the applicable protocols such as registering new patients, ensuring patient billing and insurance information is accurate, inform patient of medical office procedures and policies, ensure necessary referral or patient documents are on file for visit
Maintain and manage patient records
Move patients through appointments as scheduled
Obtain external medical reports as required by medical professionals
Schedule follow up appointments according to physician’s needs
Intercept patients as they exit to obtain any necessary additional information before exiting practice
Collect and total daily monies including payments, copay’s, etc.
Ensure patient no-shows and cancellations are followed up with in accordance to practice policy
Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
Obtain prior authorization for any patients having in-office procedures
Be knowledgeable of any and all monthly promotions offered and share with patients accordingly
Acquire audiology-add-ons and comply with audiology related policies that are applicable to locations where audiology services are offered
Promote, educate and sell all audiology services to patients in the offices they are offered.
Ensure reception area is well maintained, neat and clean and that the chairs are straightened and orderly
Check magazines for current dates, rotate magazines back to the reception room
Pick up items left behind by patients and properly disposes of them
Special projects and other duties may be assigned as needed
Required Qualifications :
High School diploma or equivalent required
Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends
Above average customer service skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Preferred Qualifications :
Bilingual Spanish a plus
Prior experience in the medical field highly desirable
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
This position is active and requires the employee to constantly move about in the office to assist patients, staff and medical providers.
