Seeking a long-term, highly motivated and driven medical assistant with the eagerness to learn at a busy Dermatology practice in Fort Myers, Cape Coral & Punta Gorda.
This job is located in the Clinical Division of the company, and is under the direction of the Medical Provider to whom a specific medical assistant is assigned, Clinical Manager and the Practice Administrator. The primary responsibility is to provide assistance in documentation, medical procedures, and perform other related duties involved in providing patient care as directed.
This position is responsible for directing patient flow, maintaining a clean and organized lab, verifying patient clinical information, maintaining records of diagnostic tests and must be very organized. A medical assistant may be required to assist with other patient care related administrative duties and clinical tasks as deemed necessary for a smooth and efficiently run medical office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms as scheduled.
- Interviews patient to ascertain the reason for the visit, obtain appropriate health history and records vital signs as required.
- Prepares patient for examination.
- Assists provider during the examination and/or procedure. Assist with the creation of the office visit note.
- Cleans and disposes of contaminated materials in all patient areas within the practices premises in accordance with OSHA requirements and practice policy.
- Assembles materials and equipment in preparation of patient encounter.
- Sterilizes medical instruments according to OSHA and practice guidelines and maintains medical equipment.
- Performs procedures as directed such as suture removal, dressing changes, injections and patch testing.
- Instructs patients about medications and telephones prescriptions to pharmacy.
- Schedules surgery and reschedules bumped appointments.
- Promptly responds to voice mail messages.
- Writes requisitions and prepares specimens for transport to outside laboratories. Makes certain specimens are directed to the appropriate laboratory required by the patient’s insurance.
- Records patient clinical and laboratory information concisely, accurately and completely.
- Responsible for putting supplies away and for restocking and preparing the exam rooms and lab area so that the areas are ready for the next day and the provider team to follow.
- Maintains a professional approach with confidentiality and with regard to OSHA and HIPAA requirements.
- Shows dependability by being punctual, efficient and with minimal absences.
- Observes and supports office policy and procedures.
- Performs duties in a competent and caring manner.
- Cooperates and maintains good rapport with all clinical and non-clinical employees.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous DERMATOLOGY experience REQUIRED
- Assumes responsibility for own continued personal and professional growth.
- Appropriate manner, conduct, and grooming.
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
