Job Description
We are a busy ObGyn office located in Huntsville, AL near Crestwood Medical Center. Our practice is made up of 4 providers. We are looking to hire a Medical Assistant immediately for our office. The position will be for 4 1/2 days a week. Our office very much has a family atmosphere and we are looking for a dedicated medical assistant professional to help serve our patients. Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma.
- Strongly prefer candidates with some type of related certificate or degree (Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, LPN, RN, etc.).
- Previous ObGyn experience (strongly preferred but not required).
- MUST have at least 2-3 years experience in the medical field in a similar position.
- Knowledge of medical practice and care; knowledge of medical equipment and instruments; knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures; Ability to assist physicians and staff in a variety of common office procedures; Ability to take vital signs; Skill in identifying and resolving problems; Ability to maintain records and record test results; Ability to react calmly and use good judgement in emergency situations; Ability to read, write, and orally communicate effectively; Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, physicians, and most importantly patients; knowledge of computers systems used in an office or medical setting; Ability to adapt, interpret and apply guidelines and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform selected nursing and administrative duties and assist physicians as part of the clinical care team.
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room and taking histories and vital signs.
- Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms.
- Gives injections when needed; assists with OB/GYN exams and office procedures as needed; and provide other patient care services as directed by the physicians.
- Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment.
- Maintains sample medication records, administers medication upon physician order and responds to medication requests per practice protocol.
- Triages and responds to patient communications within practice policy.
- Assists with scheduling tests and treatments, precertifying patients for hospital care and/or procedures, and processing referrals to other providers.
- Creates, maintains, copies and files patient files, records and other information as needed.
- Maintains strict confidentiality.
- Treats staff, physicians, visitors and patients with dignity and respect.
- Performs other related work as required
