Job Description
We are looking to fill a spot for one receptionist, at a small, one-doctor, practice in Tustin, CA. We are looking for someone who loves to help animals, and is able to multi-task and learn on the job.
This is a full-time position and will include weekend hours.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Answering phones (4 line system)
- Scheduling appointments and triaging emergencies as needed
- Checking emails
- Getting patients settled in exam rooms and collecting patient history and vitals for the doctor
- Out-bound calls for follow-ups with patient's owners, as well as obtaining medical records from other hospitals for mutual patients, etc.
- Presenting and explaining charges for services, including processing the payments
- Answering client's questions regarding products and services, as well as client education on non-medical pet care (heartworm and flea prevention, house-breaking, training facilities, etc.)
- Manage multiple medical records, electronic charts, and correspondence
- Front of house maintenance (includes removal of animal waste from lobby) and ensure hospital is neat and clean at all times (inside and outside)
- Open and close cleaning duties are shared by everyone in the hospital and does include cleaning up animal waste at times
Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma / GED or equivalent
- At least one year in customer service related field of work (medical experience is a plus)
- Great listening and communication skills
- Compassion for pets and their owner's - ability to understand and handle other's reactions with compassion is key
- Ability to lift at least 45 pounds
- You will be exposed to hazards associated with frequent animal handling such as allergens, contagious disease, noises, odors, potential bites, scratches, and animal waste
- Ability to multi-task is needed to do this position well
- Must be a team player, and willing to learn on the job

COVID-19 considerations:
We are allowing clients inside for their appointments, and masks are optional. We do try to mitigate the number of people allowed in at one time due to spatial limitations. We sanitize the exam rooms between each client/patient.
