General Duty Statement
Come join our team! The City of Saint Paul's Office of Technology and Communications is hiring for two Public Information Specialist II's, one of which will be focused on content generation and one of which will be focused on developing city branding. This is an exciting opportunity to shape digital communications while working with a variety of stakeholders. The Content Specialist will drive our content strategy and manage our communications assets. This role requires a professional with an ability to develop and execute detailed audience-specific communications plans and also demonstrate proficient project management skills. This position will be responsible for training teams on key communications tools, identifying new communications technologies, and nurturing a culture of strategic communication throughout the organization.
Typical duties include:
Leads the implementation and management of the City's Digital Asset Management system, leveraging this platform to streamline and enhances our communications efforts.
Develops and manages strategic communications for the City of Saint Paul, aligning these initiatives with broader organizational goals and the assets available in our Digital Asset Management system.
Serves as a project manager for communications initiatives, coordinating resources, timelines, and deliverables to ensure projects are executed effectively and efficiently.
Leads the governance and training for key citywide communications tools, including email marketing platform, social media management platform, and website content management system
Serves as the primary liaison for department Public Information Officers, offering guidance and support in the development of both internal and external strategic communications.
Oversees the City's social media editorial calendar, ensuring messaging is consistent, engaging, and effectively utilizes our digital assets.
Develops and maintains the City's website content strategy, incorporating materials from our Digital Asset Management system to keep all content current, relevant, and on-brand.
The Creative Services Coordinator will spearhead the development of our citywide brand guidelines and manage our digital communications. This position will develop communication materials and foster a unified and engaging brand strategy.
Typical duties include:
Collaborates with city departments to produce compelling communications materials that align with brand guidelines.
Develops brand guidelines for internal and external communications, ensuring that all citywide communications convey a consistent and cohesive brand image.
Develops templates for citywide communications that adhere to the city's brand guidelines and ensure accessibility for all audiences.
Provides support to various city departments in creating comprehensive communications plans for their projects.
Creates a variety of digital marketing tools for external use, including Google Ads.

Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree is required. No substitution for education. A Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Criminal Justice, or Law Enforcement or a related field is preferred. Two years of experience as a Public Information Specialist I or equivalent is required.
