Position Purpose

The Human Resource Manager will lead the HR function of Lauritzen Gardens alongside the CEO.
The manager is responsible for leading, mentoring, developing, and thus enhancing the team’s performance and ensuring that HR provides outstanding support to all so that staff can do their best work. The manager will exhibit a desire to lead positive cultural change resulting in higher engagement by employees and maintain a collaborative working world class environment.
Principal Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
· Partner with leadership to inform, educate, and train supervisors on tools, processes, and learning opportunities to improve managerial and leadership practices and improve employee experience.
· Advises and provides training opportunities for supervisors on organizational policies, dealing with difficult employees, handling progressive discipline, and managing conflict resolution.
· Team with DEIB Committee, Director’s Council, and Employee Engagement Committee to create and support avenues for cultural improvement that help build productive teams, boost morale; create employee-centric policies, and leads to an increase in employees' job satisfaction.
· Educate, advise, and influence leadership and managers and champion initiatives to foster employee engagement, learning and development, people manager performance, and change management.
· Manage and facilitate recruitment and staffing efforts for all Areas.
· Create and review EEOC and IDEA program compliant job descriptions.
· Welcome new hires with a detailed orientation and help manage an organization-wide onboarding process that includes initial job training, life-cycle professional development, and engagement.
· Process employee hiring /termination documents; setup and maintain employee data in Assure.
· Manage and maintain employee personnel files, I-9 form files, Attorney General reporting, and employee lists including contact, tenure, training, and the Org Chart.
· Submit reports for Unemployment Benefit Claims and respond to Verification of Employment requests
· Manage employee leave provided by the family and medical leave act (FMLA). Review leave requests and documentation, and approve requests in adherence to requirements of the FMLA and the Paid FMLA Policy
· Conduct investigations of employee incidents and complaints
· Manage and maintain the all HR systems including but not limited to the HRIS, Employee Navigator, COBRA, etc.
Position Type, Expected Hours of Work, Travel
This is a full-time position. The regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, flexible work hours are required in order to accommodate program check-in and facilitation.
Working on evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
Compensation Range: $67,000-$72000 based upon experience
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. It routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The position will also work outside in Nebraska climate conditions conducting tours and other programming.
Education and Experience
· BA/BS Degree in Business and or Human Resources related field.
· 4 years of HR generalist experience in non-profit setting preferred.
· Practical knowledge of principles and practices of employee relations
· Ability to acquire and maintain knowledge of employment law at the city, state, and federal levels.
