Job Description
General The Payment Poster is responsible for accurately posting payments to patient accounts within Four Rivers Community Health Center's electronic health record (EHR) and practice management systems. The role involves posting insurance payments, adjustments, and denials, ensuring that the accounts receivable is up-to-date and accurate. The Payment Poster works closely with the billing team to maintain the health center's revenue cycle operations efficiently. In addition will follow up on insurance denials, delayed payments and needed appeals.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Payment Posting: Post insurance payments (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers) to the appropriate patient accounts in the EHR and practice management system.- Reconciliation: Reconcile daily payment batches to ensure all payments are posted accurately and in a timely manner.
- Denials & Adjustments: Review and apply denials, write-offs, and adjustments to patient accounts in accordance with payer policies and Four Rivers Community Health Center's guidelines.
- Insurance EOBs (Explanation of Benefits): Interpret and apply insurance EOBs, ensuring proper application of payments, denials, and adjustments.
- Aging Accounts: Monitor and research unapplied or misapplied payments, working with the billing team to resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Patient Account Inquiries: Address patient inquiries regarding posted payments, account balances, and billing questions, providing clear and accurate information.
- Reporting: Assist in generating daily, weekly, and monthly reports on payment posting, reconciliations, and aged receivables.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the billing and finance teams to resolve payment-related issues, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including payer-specific guidelines, and adhere to HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in healthcare administration, accounting or related field preferred.
