Job Description
About faculty
Do you want to teach students in a Christ-based educational setting? No more than 18 students in a classroom? At PCCS, teachers have the opportunity to offer an education of excellence while fostering spiritual formation in students. If you’re interested in joining an educational ministry where you can utilize God’s gifting in your life, read on!
About us
- Poetry Community Christian School is an accredited PK-12th school with enrollment of 230+ students on a 12.6 acre campus in Poetry, between Royse City and Terrell.
- What's different? Primarily middle income families wanting educational excellence in a Christ-based environment enroll their children here (Royse City, Forney, Caddo Mills, Rockwall, Terrell, Quinlan, Kaufman, Wills Point, Scurry, Fate, Poetry, Greenville).
- No state-based testing required; only a May ITBS without "testing to a test," and school averages are excellent compared to ISDs.
- PCCS offers affordable tuition, parent involvement, college-prep programming, exemplary curricula, a learning differences small group program, competitive sports, and a wide variety of enrichment electives.
About the Position: Pay is completely dependent upon your schedule whether part-time or full-time (either would work for this position) and your experience teaching. Note also that high school classes adjourn on Fridays at 1:20 p.m. The salary range is posted for four 1/2 days per week with breaks (two weeks in the spring February and Easter) and can be finalized based upon the chosen applicant.
Even then, PCCS offers a shorter school term and a compressed week which also factor into salaries. Starting pay is not what public or large private schools offer due to our lower tuition structure and family pool of primarily middle class incomes. Salaries at PCCS vary considerably partly due to this compressed school year of 35 weeks (less than public), courses taught, experience, degrees, and especially the particular teacher's schedule (periods per day, days per week). See more below.
BENEFITS PAID BY PCCS for full-time include: Medical Insurance or monthly HSA contributions plus Vision Insurance and four personal paid days off, Faculty Dinners, and other staff development and team building activities.
Fast Facts:
>35 week school term
>Elementary and junior high have a 4 day week
>High school has a 4.5 day week (adjourn at 1:20 p.m. on Fridays)
>4 Breaks: 10 days off Thanksgiving, 17 off Christmas, 10 days off February Break, and 10 days off Easter Break adjourning the Thursday before Memorial Day (about 1.5 months less than most schools)
>Faculty salaries are dependent upon schedule, course load, prior experience and at PCCS, education level
>Mandatory: A Christian testimony plus an interest in pouring into the lives of students to develop them academically, emotionally, developmentally and spiritually.
Teachers at PCCS are drawn to us because of the Christ-centered environment-both in the classroom and among colleagues, as well as the reduced schedule. Please see the PCCS website for additional information about the school, schedule, curriculum, and contact information.
How to apply: Send a brief Christian testimony, why you are interested in teaching at PCCS, references, and a resume. Thank you for your interest!
