JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a qualified Urban Forestry Instructor for the Great Onyx Job Corps Center located in Mammoth Cave, Kentucky. This instructor will provide vocational and technical training to students in urban forestry, ensuring they achieve certifications and develop the skills necessary for job placement in the field. The role requires technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a commitment to student success.
MAIN OBJECTIVES
- Deliver training based on Job Corps Performance Requirements Handbook (PRH) and established curriculum.
- Provide hands-on instruction in urban forestry practices, including equipment use, safety procedures, and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records in the Center Information System (CIS) and student e-files.
- Assist with job placement, including mock interviews and employability skills training.
- Collaborate with the center's Work Program Officer (WPO) for curriculum updates and certifications.
- Ensure students meet milestones to qualify for paid work-based learning opportunities.
SCHEDULE OF WORK
- Full-time: Up to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Occasional substitute instructors may be required for periods exceeding five days of absence.

PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
Base Year: January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025, with four additional option years possible.
QUALIFICATIONS
- ISA Certified Arborist; ISA Master Arborist preferred.
- Bucket Truck Certification, Chainsaw Trainer Certification, Herbicide Application License.
- 3-5 years of experience as a foreman, field trainer, or equivalent in urban forestry.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to navigate the CIS system.
- First Aid, CPR/AED Certification.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
