Role: Sr. Solutions Architect
Location: Montpelier, VT/Onsite
Job Type: Fulltime/Permanent
Summary
TheSr. Solutions Architect role is responsible for partnering with executive sponsors and leading ambitious insurance applications and digital transformations consisting of Mobile, Portal, CRM, and emerging cloud technologies. Effective communications, a positive attitude, and a proven track record of serving in a senior technical leadership role are key qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Delivery
- Provide architectural oversight and direction to multiple scrum teams delivering digital projects.
- Ensure solutions satisfy business requirements and are of the highest possible quality.
- Develop project deliverables, proof-of-concepts, and pilot new technologies.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for any project technical issue or challenge.
- Communicate effectively, and with an appropriate level of detail, to all levels of the organization.
- Identify and manage implementation risk.
- Ensure delivered solutions are monitored, have a support plan, and adequate business controls.
- Experienced in software engineering and IT architecture, design, and implementation.
Application Architecture, Governance, & Strategy
- Ability to analyze legacy systems and develop current state architecture and design views
- Experience translating business needs and priorities into modern architecture solutions and designs
- Experience in identifying and documenting interdependencies between processes, technologies, applications, and data.
- Ability to operate in a multi-stakeholder and multi-vendor environment to drive decisions & executive buy-in
- Drive the definition and adoption of enterprise reference architectures and development standards.
- Review and approve all solution architectures within the digital domain.
- Maintain a solid partnership with business leaders and provide strategic technical leadership.
Job Requirements
- Master’s degree, preferred in Computer Science; or relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of digital application development experience with demonstrated progressive responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead in a highly matrixed, heavily outsourced organization through a combination of influence, partnership, and authority
- Hands-on knowledge of current technology standards/trends coupled with a desire to continually expand personal knowledge/skills
- Domain knowledge of the Insurance Industry (preferably L&A) as well as the technologies and solutions relevant to this industry is desired
- Ability and interest in mentoring technical staff and raising our collective technical competencies
- Ability to manage change and cope with complex and ambiguous situations
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with other business and technology leaders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with the ability to tailor communication to all levels of an organization
- Open-minded with proven ability to work collaboratively with others in team environment
- Experience identifying, defining and implementing technical design/coding standards
