Job Description
DES MOINES, IA
Proteus, a non-profit organization that assists migratory and seasonal agricultural workers with health care access / services and job training, is currently seeking a Health Care Team Lead. The position will be reporting to the Regional Director and will work out of the Fort Dodge Office. The Health Care Team Lead will be responsible for supervising the administrative operations of clinics and summer health staff for the region. Administrative operations include but is not limited to assisting in the administration of the migrant health program, patient case management, clinical management, and performing general medical screening to non-acutely ill patients while ensuring all clinical protocols are followed.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supervises the administrative operations of clinics for the region. Includes but is not limited to receiving patient calls, patient scheduling, assisting patients and providers during clinic visits, maintaining medical supply inventories, obtaining provider approvals for medical purchases, and maintaining patient information including care plans.
2. Monitors procedures for adherence to clinical protocols, ensuring a high quality of care.
3. Records patient information in the Electronic Health Record system.
4. Assists with the development Memorandum of Understandings with health care provider partners in region.
5. Acts as translator between farmworkers and Physician, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant.
6. Accurately takes temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, height, weight, and vision screening along with limited lab tests after completing initial training,
7. Accurately completes health care forms included in the patient chart. Assesses program eligibility and communicates to patient.
8. Records health histories in patient's chart in accordance with established policies and procedures.
9. Assists in communicating patient observations and behavior in accordance with the patient's plan of care as directed.
10. Assists health care team members with examinations or procedure within boundaries of job as assigned.
11. Implements medical provider's orders as directed with procedures, exams, treatments, and/or referrals when necessary and within boundaries of job.
12. Effectively communicates with patients and providers, including timely documentation and follow-up of pertinent communication related to patient’s health care plan.
13. Attends meetings and in service program pertinent to own practice.
14. Assist in the management of the in-house pharmacy; dispenses medications as directed under the medical provider.
15. Supervises the summer health aid staff during clinic operations.
16. Assists with the after-hours coverage plan as needed.
17. Other duties as assigned.

· Supervisory Skills: understand the fundamentals of effective supervision and is able to apply skills that guide and lead effective performance among individuals and teams.
· Computer: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other software / database programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in health care administration or other related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: A minimum of two years healthcare related experience; previous work experience in community health center or clinic administration; some supervisory experience is preferred.
Specific Knowledge: Ability to communicate in Spanish is required.
License and Certificates: Access to reliable transportation, acceptable driving record, valid driver's license and minimum car insurance required by state law.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Must possess the physical capabilities to perform the following: reaching, handling, talking, hearing, seeing, standing, walking, stooping, and bending.
