Job Description
Are you looking for work where you can serve your community and help others? Are you a people-person with strong judgment and experience de-escalating challenging situations? We are hiring Transit Security Officers (TSOs) to help build and promote a sense of safety and trust for employees, riders, and the public. In this role, you will work closely with the support of the Transit Police Unit, the Social Worker Program, and customer service positions.
TSOs work with people every day. This includes providing uniformed and undercover services in a calm, respectful, and trauma-informed manner. TSOs work with a diverse range of people and must approach their work with a focus on equity and cultural sensitivity. TSO interactions should be supportive, non-judgmental, and respectful. TSOs must demonstrate strong communication skills, ethical conduct, and professionalism.
In this role, you will spend much of your time out in our community, at bus stops and transit centers, and riding on our services. TSOs are expected to respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations, providing immediate assistance, first aid, or alerting relevant authorities when necessary. Our training program prepares TSOs to respond to disorderly or aggressive behavior in an effective and empathetic way to gain compliance without the need for force. Applicants should be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing for long periods, walking, biking, responding quickly to emergencies, use of force training, and use of force in defense of themselves or others. We value diversity and inclusion and encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply.
