Security Specialist Job Description:

Our firm is seeking a Security Specialist. The ideal candidate will be an early or mid-level Personnel Security Specialists who can provide a broad range of operations support with emphasis on personnel security, credentialing support, physical security, and customer service. This individual must positively interact with both clients and corporate colleagues on a daily basis and be able to thrive in a team environment.
Essential Functions:

- Ability to complete multiple projects and client deliverables with minimal direction or oversight
- Assist with scheduling of badging appointments
- Greet personnel at badging office as necessary
- Print ID badges using on-site badge printer
- Enroll applicants for ID badges to include ancillary functions such as I-9 identity proofing and obtaining digital fingerprints
- Perform digital certificate updates on ID badges
- Appropriately dispose of returned ID badges
- Receive and distribute incoming mail/packages
- Provide badging office activity reports, processes, guidelines, and communication on associated events
- Advise customers and employees on personnel security principles, concepts, and procedures
- Determine if additional inquiries are necessary to resolve discrepant, negative, or contradictory information
- Formulate a recommended course of action consistent with pertinent Executive Orders and agency related to security/suitability determinations
- Assist with managing and tracking office assets and property
- Enroll personnel in the IRIS enrollment station
- Coordinate monthly patching with IT department, security systems, and other responsible officials
- If requested, provide logistical support for third party fingerprint completion
- If requested, provide customer service call center support. This will entail fielding and routing questions from applicants related to DI badges and background investigations.
- Be available for employees, and other contractors having a disruption in access
- Able to diagnose and remedy minor access control interruptions
- Ensure the access deficiencies are reported to the onsite responsible official
- Generate weekly and monthly access events, cardholder by area reports, and any other requested reports
- Add and remove access requests to the access control system following proper procedures
- Able to obtain and maintain proper approvals for the purpose of access control and access to critical infrastructure
- Administer, audit, and operate the system for issuing keys following proper procedures
- Manage High Security Data closets via coordination with appropriate officials
- Coordinate with appropriate officials regarding visitor procedures and support the processing of visit requests
- Able to trouble shoot routine problems and IT issues with visitor processing systems
- Enable and disable access control accounts as requested
- Set up user accounts for the video surveillance system and coordinate with appropriate officials for updates and planned outages
- Assist with travel requests when needed
- Assist with procurement documentation when needed.
- Support continuity of operations with key role to administer alerts and notifications for system outages and/or during system recovery
- Complete all required trainings
- Assists IT system owners with conducting monthly security system checks and submit tickets for troubleshooting and maintenance support
- Assist with data collecting for facility security assessments
- Complete support tasks related to new construction and renovation projects when requested
Job Requirements:
- Experience enrolling and activating applicants for ID badges
- Experience scheduling appointments, maintaining inventory, and tracking documents
- Experience troubleshooting routine issues
- Experience adding and removing badging access to building spaces
- Experience developing standard operating procedures
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s Degree preferable
- 5 years of experience in a personnel security or credentialing operations preferable
- Must be a US Citizen
- Preferably 3-5 years of personnel security experience including initiating, processing, reviewing, and monitoring cases prior to assignment for background investigation processing to ensure that they are complete
