Job Description
Position Overview:
The purpose of this position is to assist the manager of one card services in maintaining the day to day operation of the Carleton OneCard system. The responsibilities include troubleshooting and repair of the CS Gold software and firmware in the system. Coordinating the inventory of hardware and parts needed to maintain the system. Assisting the Manager of one card services in strategic planning to provide innovative OneCard solution to the Carleton Campus. The physical security technology coordinator is also responsible for coordinating patron access privileges and providing data base oversight.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
OneCard Device Support:
- Troubleshoot OneCard point of sale equipment including, but not limited to Micros and Aero III.
- Manage and maintain reader devices that support OneCard program. Train primary users of card reader devices, trouble shoot user concerns.
- Work closely with CBORD and Micros Help Desk staff for prompt resolution of problems.
- Develop back up and contingency plans for device failures.
- Coordinate and perform regular maintenance on devices including hardware verification, security checks and cleaning. Submit any additional work orders to electricians, locksmiths and carpenters.
- Return faulty equipment for repairs, order and stock necessary replacement parts and equipment for the OneCard program. Organize equipment and inventory using the Campus Work Order System for future projects.
OneCard:
- Provide back up for campus ID card applications and services. Program encompasses patron identification; privilege control; and inter-campus cashless declining balance financial transactions at a wide variety of retail locations at both Carleton College and St. Olaf College.
- Responsible for the maintenance functions that ensure accuracy with OneCard Shared Accounts.
Access Control:
- Provide patron access privilege oversight for administrative and academic buildings.
- Conduct annual database audits maintaining active patron accounts and purging non-active accounts per policy
One Card System Support:
- Assist the director to provide support for the collaborative effort of Carleton and St. Olaf Colleges ID card programs
Additional Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in continuing education for OneCard program
- Participate in strategic planning for the OneCard program

Meet with the Manager of OneCard Services at appropriate intervals to ensure progress toward goals, including annual performance review.
- Supervise student employees assigned to a variety of OneCard functions.
- Education/Experience/Skills (supported by job duties):Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field; or the equivalent of 2 to 4 years hands on experience with Windows based business and computer applications.
- Must possess mechanical aptitude and be comfortable using hand tools, troubleshooting, and diagnosing issues associated with card reading devices.
- Work experience must reflect a demonstrated customer service orientation; strong written and verbal communication skills; evidence of strong supervisory skills.
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both team-based environment and independently.
- A valid driver’s license.
Preferred:
- Experience with campus card systems.
