Job Description
The Mountain Dispatcher receives incident calls and dispatches patrollers and equipment as needed, receives work orders for the patrol, and assigns jobs to patrollers accordingly. The dispatcher handles all mountain dispatch radio and telephone communications and keeps accurate written documentation of the day’s work and events chronologically in the daily, computerized logbook. The dispatcher is the Incident Command leader until replaced by a lead patroller or supervisor and should be familiar with all Bald Mountain emergency and rescue plans. The dispatcher must be competent in all dispatch software and standard computer programs. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Must be on the hill for the opening and closing of the lifts.
- Coordinates communications for all mountain operations on Bald and Dollar Mountains.
- Distributes and checks the morning sign-in sheets.
- Maintains the Daily Log on computer software.
- Makes sure all morning patroller jobs are completed, such as mountain set-ups, snowmachine checks, and medical gear checks.
- Manages the administration of the opening and closing of terrain per the work list.
- Ensures toboggans are checked daily and in their proper locations.
- Monitors lift opening and closing at the day’s beginning and end.
- Monitors the status of all lifts throughout the day.
- Monitors the sweep board.
- Starts the following day’s work list.
- Checks and accounts for patrol radios.
Qualifications:
- A working knowledge of the terrain on Bald Mountain and Dollar Mountain
- Experience with radio communications
- ICS familiarity
- Must be proficient with computers.
- Must be a clear communicator.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to keep calm in high-stress environments.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
