PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The hiring salary range for this position is $23.20 - $29.00 hourly.
This is classified as VHBE (Variable Hour Benefit Eligible), where the selected candidate will work an average of 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will be eligible to elect Medical Benefits as well as accrue paid time off and receive 11 paid holidays.

The Contract Records Technician is responsible for collecting, storing and disseminating criminal information and reports to Police personnel and the public.
Imports, updates, and quality control of computer generated reports; Arrest Booking and Arrest Affidavit, ability to understand NIBRS requirements and the connection between CRS and NIBRS, import and process of all report types, awareness of errors and the ability to communicate effectively to correct, responsible for the correction of NIBRS errors and accuracy of statistics submitted to CBI and FBI.
Organizational knowledge to route reports and prompt system notifications to units within the organization for follow up.
Researches and solves report, record, and identification problems.
Maintains complex record keeping and reporting systems; enters, modifies, and updates multiple data bases in local, State and National computer systems.
Complex database cleanup ensuring accurate information requirements in law enforcement databases (28CFR20).
Answers all incoming calls to the Public Records Line
Tracks, distributes, files and scan documents.
Assist community members requesting criminal justice records
Follows record dissemination laws, policies, and procedures
Performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED. The selected candidate will be required to submit proof, in the form of an official transcript of the highest level of education completed as indicated on their application and/or resume.
Experience:
One (1) year of general office or clerical experience including data entry and customer service experience.
Preferred Experience:
Two (2) years office, clerical, and/or legal experience to include data entry and customer service.
Experience working in a judicial or law enforcement environment.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of office practices and procedures; business English.
Computer filing and records management systems and databases.
Office software; Word, Windows.
Abilities:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Handle stressful situations with tact and diplomacy.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Perform complex data entry activities, attention to detail.
Skills:
Skill in passing a CritiCall Exam, that measures skills in 10 different competencies which include: Data entry, sentence clarity, and multi-tasking.
Licenses and Certifications:
CCIC/NCIC certification preferred, but also required within 6 months of employment.
Colorado Certified Records Network (CCRN) Master Certification preferred but not required.
Essential Personnel:
When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
Physical Demands:
Sedentary physical work that involves moving no more than 10 pounds at a time
Occasional Standing/Walking - Occurs up to 31 minutes to 2.5 hours per shift
Frequent sitting.
Hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard.
Vision to read and interpret reports, documents, and other written/typed information.
Frequent speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees.
Memory to retain updated processes, critical thinking to complete and navigate highly technical tasks that may be infrequent.
Judgment to ensure confidential information remains protected.
Work Environment:
Essential duties performed on site, primarily in clean, comfortable environment with some shared workstations and equipment.
Equipment Used:
Frequently uses computer and keyboard.
This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.
