Key responsibilities include:
- Demonstrating a commitment to engage in our world class safety culture. This includes having a strong commitment and ability to practice required health and safety practices and precautions using chemical production equipment and watching out for others and ensuring they are doing the same
- Controls chemical processes and systems of distillation columns and equipment using, the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) or other control systems
- Applies changes to controller set points to make necessary adjustments on equipment and units affecting rates, quality, and yields following process specific procedures
- Monitors and records process data in order to verify conformity to process conditions
- Records operating data such as process conditions, test results, and instrument readings
- Monitors and records all analytical data gathered by collecting process samples and running required QC analyses to verify that all process streams meet specifications set forth by process specific procedures
- Performs troubleshooting of plant, process, and equipment problems including upset conditions, and product quality issues.
- Confers with supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting safety, compliance, efficiency, and product quality
- Opens and closes valves to regulate flow of feed, product, waste, and purge streams to pumps, distillation columns, reactors, storage tanks, or bulk tankers
- Prepares line-ups to ensure that process streams flow to the proper destination
- Monitors and records all inventory in the Inventory Management System
- Conducts daily RCRA, housekeeping, and safety audits
- Prepares plant equipment to assure maintenance activities can be conducted safely and assists maintenance with equipment repairs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Broad knowledge of chemistry principles, desired
- Broad knowledge of protocol to safely load and unload chemicals from various forms of transportation methods (van trucks, ISO containers, etc.), desired
- Understand and perform mathematical calculations.
- Analyze data and make critical process decisions based upon data outcome.
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment to obtain accurate result.
- Ability to critically think through situations to make an appropriate response
- Observes process trends compared to established norms and obtains assistance to resolve unusual problems that arise.
- Ability to read, interpret, and execute detailed written instructions and procedures.
- Attentive listening skills to carry out verbal instructions accurately and precisely.
- Knowledge of HAZCOM handling procedures.
- Proficient at operating a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) or Digital Control System (DCS) system.
- Effective organizational skills to ensure an orderly and safe workplace.
- Proficient mechanical based knowledge
- Ability to obtain required RCRA, OSHA and DOT training, understand and apply it to daily operations
- Initiative and ability to perform tasks in strenuous work environments
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour
