Job Description
· This position will be required to be very experienced in the administration and maintenance of SQL Databases.
· Serves as the primary contact for resolving database performance, security and support issues.
· Works as a primary member of the IT&C server systems administration team, and as such, requires significant systems administrative duties in conjunction with database administration. The successful candidate will be a utility player capable and comfortable handling multiple roles as the job requires.
· Responsible for backups and restorations of all USAP associated databases.
· Performs quality control audits to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper usage of data in tables and various support tools, such as database dictionaries.
· Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls.
· Provides appropriate consulting, interfacing, and training for information systems users.
· Assists with the creation of policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management; monitors transaction activity and database utilization.
· Defines documents and performs routine database maintenance and administrative functions, including index maintenance and updating of various tables.
· Provides support to end users and Development and QA staff on all database issues.
· Provides server and client support for specialized production business applications.
· Reports regularly to the Manager on operational problems, plans and progress.
· Aids in the production of all system, security and user documentation for server and database systems.
· Required to provide 24X7 support and share responsibility for on-call rotation as required by manager. This rotation will include handling Systems Administrator tasking and managing a work order ticket queue during periods of on-call duty.
· Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace program and ensuring safety is the highest priority in the work place.
· Creating and managing the ODB environments that serve production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs
· Installing and maintaining the administrative and monitoring tools necessary for high levels of availability and performance of your Epic system
· Understanding performance metrics, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issues
· Managing the logins for different types of access, including login behavior and working environment configuration
· Applying Cache and Epic upgrades and updates to production and non-production environments
· Configuring and maintaining environment copies according to the environment strategy
· Responding to emergency and after-hours issues
· Engaging in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources
· Collaborating with your technical teams and Epic to ensure proactive support
· Writing and maintaining scripts to improve system management tasks
· Participating in your change control process for all planned application and technical activities
· Maintaining and testing processes related to business continuity
· Following vendor and Epic best practices for hardware and software configuration
· Analyzes and defines the properties required by a database management system (DBMS) that will meet the current and future needs of the company.
· Analyzes the organizational structure of the company and defines the logical database structure for current and future application development.
· Establishes, maintains, and controls the corporate data dictionary.
· Develops, documents, and enforces the standards for access to the database.
· Defines and implements security procedures to ensure the integrity and privacy of the database.
· Designs, implements, and periodically tests the database backup and recovery procedures.
· Defines procedures for testing and implementing new applications in the database environment.
· Analyzes current and projected future database performance; fine-tunes or recommends equipment changes when necessary.
· Develops database training guidelines for the analyst and end-user.
· Acts as mediator with different users to resolve conflicts of data naming conventions and ownership/privacy of data.
· Maintains knowledge of current and future DBMS technology through schools, seminars, and publications.
· Interacts with the technical support team and DBMS vendor to schedule installation and maintenance of the DBMS software
· Provides suggestions for changes, enhancements, and modifications to products
· Must be organized, driven and highly motivated with the ability to work independently
· Work closely with the client stakeholders, technical operations groups, application support teams, technical support team, etc
· Recognize areas for improvement in the Oracle platform and take appropriate action to initiate changes
· Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database instances
· Recommend and implement database security policies
· Recommend and implement database backup, recovery, and redundancy strategies; implement automated monitoring to ensure proactive handing of issues
· Be the bridge between the infrastructure team and the Clients on issues relating to the database infrastructure
· Work independently to perform database performance analysis, capacity planning, system sizing and ongoing maintenance
· Recommend best practices and perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor
· Daily monitoring and analysis of databases and database servers to ensure continuance of operations
· Database performance analysis and tuning to ensure optimal system performance. Major areas of support in this area will include sizing, throughput, scalability and dependability
· Ensure security of databases
· Perform regular backups of all databases
· Perform restorations of backups in case of system failure or data loss
· Review all changes to existing production databases to ensure that such changes do not negatively impact database performance or reliability
· Work with software developers to design and implement new database schemas, stored procedures, etc.
· Promote database changes through software development lifecycle process
· Schedule and perform regular server maintenance
· Provide end-to-end technical support and problem resolution
· All other duties as assigned

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
