Bilingual (Spanish) Certified Medical Assistant
Position: Bilingual (Spanish) Certified Medical Assistant
Department: Administrative and Clinical
Pay Range: $15-$18
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) provide physician support services that ensure that healthcare facilities run smoothly. They are responsible for administrative as well as clinical tasks, such as maintaining patient records, preparing patients and rooms for examination, assisting physicians with exams, and performing front-desk tasks.
The individual displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others and functions as a member of the healthcare team. The CMA functions under the direct supervision and authority of the physician when performing clinical tasks during patient care. The CMA must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care. The CMA maintains an inventory of examination/procedure room supplies, assists in the organization of efficient patient flow, and organizes the clinic environment to assure patient safety. The CMA demonstrates problem-solving skills as they relate to patient care activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs Administrative and Clinical duties as assigned
- Measures and records vital signs; records patient interview, history, and chief complaint utilizing an EMR system
- Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests; assists physician with exams; explain treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patient.
- Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens; performs CLIA waived lab tests.
- Prepares and administers medications under physician or practitioner supervision; changes dressings, applies bandages, removes sutures and other first aid procedures; uses CPR skills when necessary.
- Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks and sterilizes instruments; practices OSHA safety standards; performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times.
- Processes patient phone messages, returning calls and routing them to other team members as appropriate; calls patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician.
- Upon physician approval and authorization, calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy.
- Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology; and follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct.
- Performs Basic X-ray
- Maintains OSHA, CLIA required logs and documentation
- Adheres to OSHA, CLIA and HIPAA requirements

- HS Diploma/GED (required)
- Medical Assistant Certification (required): American Medical Technologist (AMT)-Registered Medical Assistant OR American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)-Certified Medical Assistant
- BLS (required)
- 3 Years Urgent Care or Primary Care experience (required)
- Associates Degree (preferred)
- Fluent in Spanish Speaking (required), Fluent in Portuguese Speaking (preferred)
