Job Description
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), located in Golden, Colorado, is looking for a records management specialist who is focused on getting paper records to offsite storage prior to June 30, 2024, as well as coordinating the destruction process of paper records currently in storage and eligible for destruction. The records specialist will:
Accurately and efficiently prepare legacy paper records for FRC storage according to defined processes.
Coordinate destruction of records stored at the FRC.
Implement and coordinate the destruction or other appropriate disposition processes for records and other information located in the records file room.
Evaluate file collections for ongoing record value according to established criteria.
Identify, inventory, and organize contractor-owned paper records to be retained in the records file room.
Perform consistent and accurate data entry into appropriate databases.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Extensive knowledge in specialized focused business support functions. A comprehensive understanding of both general and specific aspects of business support activities, and their practical application to a wide variety of problems and situations specific to the discipline or field supported. Advanced skills in applicable software packages and office equipment. Considerable project administration and business services skills. Broad knowledge of specific principles, procedures, and practices related to supported fields and disciplines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, team and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently while performing established processes in an accurate and consistent manner.
Attention to details.
Excellent computer and data entry skills using Microsoft Office Suite products.
Must be able to work in storage facility environments and be able to safely lift and move records storage boxes frequently weighing 30 to 40 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
5 or more years of records management experience in a Federal Government or Federal Contractor environment, preferably within the US Department of Energy.
Working knowledge of the laws, regulations, principles, procedures, and practices related to the records management and information governance profession.
Proficient in the use of electronic records tracking or cataloging systems.
Must be able to work in storage facility environments and be able to safely lift and move records storage boxes frequently weighing 30 to 40 pounds.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Job Profile: Specialist IV / Annual Salary Range: $62,000 - $102,300
NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
