Conditions of Employment: This position is a full-time, 12-month exempt at-will
administrative position with benefits.
Salary: The salary range is $69,312 to $78,842 annually depending on experience and qualifications, plus benefits. Adams State University offers a competitive benefits package.

Position Summary: This position leads the Office of Institutional Research to
provide leadership, guidance, and service in the fields of research, assessment,
accreditation, planning, and data management in alignment with the institution's mission. The senior university researcher develops and maintains programs and procedures for accurate data reporting to campus departments, various organizations, and state and federal agencies; coordinates the collection, analysis, and interpretation of selected institutional data; provides systems for the dissemination of information; and anticipates various data needs of the institution by providing recommendations, information, and/or data for decision- making, planning, resource allocation, and institutional effectiveness.
Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities):
Manage the Office of Institutional Research and its budget.
o Maintain the Office of Institutional Research web pages and Public
Tableau data visualizations.
o Act as administrator for the university’s Tableau licenses.
Provide leadership and support for institutional research activities.
o Provide guidance and oversight to support data standards and
management to include Data Integrity Steering Committee (DISC)
and other collaborative efforts tasked with data maintenance or
changes.
o Coordinate, prepare, and disseminate various institutional, agency,
state and federal reports, including but not limited to IPEDS, SURDS,
NCAA requirements, HLC Institutional Update, NC-SARA, etc.
o Assist with preparation, editing, and proofing of other office research
documents or reports prior to campus-wide distribution.
o Conduct ongoing research and studies to evaluate areas such as
student demography, enrollment trends, and retention in support of
institutional strategic planning.
o Respond to requests for ad hoc reports, integrating internal, peer,
and national data to form consistent comparisons. Prepare data
downloads from the institutional ERP system and other data sources
using a variety of computer interface tools.
o Provide necessary support for university-wide grant proposal efforts
through data collection and compilation.
o Disseminate official results to appropriate external agencies and
audiences including preparing reports, constructing presentations
and/or completing elaborate survey forms, interpreting official
institutional statistics for a wide variety of external agencies as well
as college administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with constituents.
Proactive participation in professional development via regional and state
organizations dealing with research in higher education, or other career
enhancement activities.
Perform related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in educational research, statistics, psychology, sociology,
business, math/science, or related field. Master’s degree or Terminal degree
preferred.
Five years of related work experience.
The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate and
collaborate with diverse constituencies and build working relationships.
Demonstrated analytical, statistical, and quantitative skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in higher education research is preferred.
Experience with Banner ERP system preferred.
Experience with the Workday ERP system and data reports is highly
preferred.
Experience with Prism preferred.
Experience with Tableau preferred.
Experience with IBM SPSS preferred.
Experience with data mining and analysis tools and reporting software.
Experience with SQL or another programming language.
Experience with MS Office, Google Suite or similar platforms.
Working knowledge of SQL and R or Python beneficial
Understanding of object-oriented database design.
Understanding of trends in higher education.
Ability to perform the above primary duties.
