Fire Alarm Technician
Total Fire and Security is one of the premiere fire alarm design/build companies in Colorado. We specialize in contract and service work along the front range. Total Fire Protection, (TFS’s Parent Company) has been in business since 1991, our other locations include Grand Rapids, MI, and Fort Meyers, FL. General Description
Fire alarm technician. The right candidate will be detail-oriented, timely, and work well with deadlines. It is preferable that the candidate have 2-3 years experience in fire alarm, or low voltage industry installing field devices, programming systems and running small jobs.
Fire Alarm Technician Responsibilities and Duties
· Ability to deliver product familiarization training to end users.
· Ability to be on-call on a rotation basis.
· Troubleshoot new system installations to ensure that they are functioning properly and that they meet local, county, state, and national codes.
· Install and troubleshoot low voltage panels and associated devices.
· Provide high quality customer support.
· Perform system testing and signal verification.
· Provide customer instruction on system operation and functionality.
· Maintain the necessary truck stock/inventory of tools and equipment.
· Organize and utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to ensure efficient execution of assigned tasks.
· Provide documentation of service and hours worked.
· Complete and submit all required task related activities, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner.
· Must have a strong work ethic.
· Must be detail oriented.
· Must complete other projects as assigned.
Fire Alarm Technician Qualifications
· -Willing to lift at least 75 pounds and work on a ladder.
· -Good verbal and written communication skills.
· -Must be mechanically inclined and able to work with basic hand tools
· -Must be able to stand for long periods of time
· Minimum of a high school diploma/vocational training
· Must have 5 or more years of experience in the fire alarm industry. Siemens/Potter preferred.
· Must have a working knowledge of local and national codes, including NFPA 70 and 72
· Must possess strong communication skills when working in a team setting.
· Must have an ability to determine and implement resolution to complex field situations.
· Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
· Must have the ability to manage multiple projects.
· Must have a valid driver’s license.
· Must obtain and retain any specific product certifications and licenses that are required by national state and local codes.
