The Digital Valve Application Engineer is a technical role specializing in the application of digital intelligent field devices, sensors, and software to provide data for predictive diagnostics and improve performance of final control elements and measurement instruments in the industrial process control space. This role will help customers achieve more efficient plant operation, increased throughput, lower maintenance, energy, and utility costs, while increasing their safety, quality, and reducing rework.
As a Digital Valve Applications Engineer, you will:
Work in a team environment with Sales Engineers, Applications Engineers, Product Engineers, Service Centers, and Sales offices to develop customer solutions utilizing intelligent devices and software such as the FIELDVUE™ product portfolio.
Knowledge of industrial Distributed Control Systems (DCS) / Safety System (SIS) and communication protocols, like HART®, Foundation Fieldbus®, and PROFIBUS® is required.
Provide configuration, installation, mounting, troubleshooting etc., support and recommendations as well as the creation of template specs for projects using proprietary software and devices such as ValveLink™ and the AMS Trex Device Communicator.
Evaluate and trouble shoot field issues. Provide technical support on daily activities, warranty evaluation, and act as a liaison between Sales and Technical Teams.
Build and retain basic understanding of different host system architecture to help customers unlock diagnostic capability utilizing Emerson products and services around control and safety systems.
Sales technical expert supporting application of software and hardware products contributing to the customers Digital Valve Experience.
Well informed on all new industry products and market direction/condition related to intelligent devices and software.
Aid in the expedition of customer transformation from preventative maintenance to predictive maintenance through understanding and communicating/educating internal and external customers on value messaging and strategic competitive advantages of our digital products and services.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or 4+ years related experience in leiu of degree will be considered
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
3+ years of industry/technical experience
Field instrumentation & process control experience
Distributed control systems (DCS) exposure
Experienced in one or more communication protocol such as PROFIBUS®, DeviceNet®, Modbus®, or Foundation Fieldbus®
Working knowledge and ability to troubleshoot mixed mechanical and electrical systems
Existing experience with FIELDVUE™ products or competitive digital smart device
