Job Description
Our client is seeking an entry-level Staff Accountant with advanced Excel skills to join their accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent accounting graduate or someone with limited accounting experience who possesses a strong proficiency in Excel. As a Staff Accountant, you will support various accounting functions and assist in financial analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, has excellent analytical skills, and is eager to learn and grow in a dynamic accounting environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Conduct account reconciliations and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data.
Perform month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries and accruals.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, including gathering and analyzing financial data.
Prepare and analyze various financial reports, including variance analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Maintain and update financial spreadsheets using advanced Excel functions, such as pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and formulas.
Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support auditors during financial audits.
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, and customer billing.
Assist in the preparation of tax returns and compliance activities, as needed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze financial data for special projects or ad hoc reporting requirements.
Stay updated on accounting principles, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).
Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial concepts.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Prior internship or work experience in accounting or finance is a plus.
Knowledge of accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) is beneficial.
Familiarity with other Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint) is desirable.
