Job Description
As a Director of Sales and Marketing you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of the hotel by overseeing and participating in the sales strategy, driving revenue growth, and fostering strong relationships with our valued guests. Your dedication to providing a distinct and memorable guest experience will contribute to maintaining the hotel's position as a leading hotel in Detroit.
You will be responsible for maximizing the occupancy and the average daily rate, maximizing Catering revenues, accountable for Sales and Catering Department’s performance, and integral part of Revenue Management.
This individual must be a creative, high-energy, hands-on, take-charge Director with proven leadership skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise the Sales team; hire, train, develop, assess and empower staff to achieve the department's goals.
Selling and coordinating details for groups and events; must have experience in both areas and familiarity with menu planning and banquet event orders.
Solicit, negotiate and book new and repeat business through various efforts including prospecting, site tours, sales blitzes, prompt and competent follow-up on leads/referrals, and networking in order to maximize room revenue to meet and/or exceed revenue goals.
Establish and maintain existing relationships prior to, during and post conference ensuring service exceeds expectations and encouraging repeat business and referrals.
Direct and manage all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel.
Provide collaboration, mentorship, coaching, and training of hotel sales team, continually assessing strengths and opportunities of team members.
Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages teamwork and high performance.
Work with the sales team to ensure understanding of sales strategy and effective implementation of this strategy.
Ensure ongoing market and competitive set awareness in coordination with revenue management to maximize revenue opportunities and shape proactive strategy.
Integral part of the Revenue Management team with a high level of expertise in this area.
Works closely with Preferred Hotel Group ensuring the hotel’s participation in programs and the lead hotel contact.

Ability to investigate and analyze current activities or information in the sales/marketing field and make informed recommendations.
Outstanding leadership skills with associates and guests.
Experience & Education:
4-year degree or equivalent experience and education.
5+ years’ sales experience in an upscale hotel is required.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Market knowledge
Adaptive
Ability to multi-task and time management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
