Position Purpose
The Manager, Operations & Chartering will work in close collaboration with the Plants and the Commercial team to ensure the proper scheduling of Verbio’s logistics activities. This person is the liaison between the site logistics coordinators, whom they manage, and the Head of Logistics & Operations. This is a full-time salaried position.
Key responsibilities
Coordinate the scheduling of domestic and international inbound and outbound freight movements for all Verbio entities.
Develop, structure and organize the Marine Logistics solutions in line with Verbio’s strategy.
Coordinate and execute the marine operations, and all associated activities.
Compile and file all the voyage documentation (Bill of Lading, export declaration, manifest, survey report, insurance, letter of credit, etc.) for inventory and audit purposes.
Monitor daily voyage performance of vessels, as well as load/unload performance information, etc. and create user-friendly reports
Create and improve process documentation for Verbio North America (VNA) logistics operations and scheduling as well as Key Performance Indicators (KPI) & metrics.
Develop monthly reporting and analysis of Logistics and Commercial activities (contract management for instance).
Prepare and diffuse the weekly and the monthly inventory reports for Verbio Diesel Canada (VDC) and VNA to internal stakeholders.
Lead logistics projects implementation when required.
Assist with VDC and VNA compliance requirements (Kosher, local and international maritime regulations, EPA, railcars regulatory maintenance, etc.)
Work with the Accounting Team to ensure timely payment of all freight charges to the providers.
Be the ERP point of contact for the Logistics & Operations team.
Develop and maintain relationship with Verbio’s suppliers, Verbio’s customers and internal stakeholders by participating in fair trades and site visits.
Provide guidance to VDC logistics coordinator when needed and directly supervise the VNA logistics coordinator
Ensure that all VNA folders are up to date and properly classified.
Create and maintain a database of logistics partners and freight rates.
Follow, update and create Standard Operating Procedures and templates whenever it is required.
Monitor and analyze shipping market trends.
Respond to and handle issues after hours and on the weekends as necessary
Act as a backup for the Head of Logistics & Operations when away
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management or a comparable course of studies.
at least 5 years of work experience in:
Logistics operations planning/scheduling
Team supervision and/or Management
Biofuels (Biodiesel, Bioethanol, Biogas)
Project management
Additional Knowledge of:
Contract and logistics terms related to biofuels
Marine operations experience
Railroad & Trucking industry is an asset
Incoterms
Customs and clearance processes
Operational (terminal) Knowledge and/or experience
ERP systems and Microsoft Excel
Understanding of Ag futures market
