Job Description
Qualifications & Responsibilities:
- Self-starter with a technical background and interest. A background in commercial lighting & controls or theatrical production is not required but is favorable.
- Ability to communicate with end users, contractors, specifiers, electrical distributors and co-workers with clear next steps and processes while being highly organized.
- Provide controls take offs, device placements, quotes, riser diagrams and verbal and written technical support for all of Cooper Lighting’s control systems.
- Cross collaborate internally to provide the best customer experience at all phases of the quoting process.
- Prior knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam as well as the ability to read technical details and electrical and lighting drawings is a plus, but not required.
- Excellent communication and organization skills or a must.
We are looking to hire a new or experienced applications engineer for the New England (MA, RI, CT, NH, VT and ME) territory. This position would ideally be located in Boston, MA, but could be remote or hybrid. The ideal candidate would be willing to learn 5 controls systems and support the Controls Manager and Senior Applications Engineer with all take offs, quotes, project management, submittal drawings and factory relationships. Our jobsites vary, but include small offices, concert venues, schools and universities, churches, biomedical facilities, hotels and residential developments
New candidates should expect on the job training (4-6 months) to be fully trained. This will include job shadowing, practice projects and manufacturer trainings (requiring a small amount of travel outside the region). Every candidate should be a problem solver and have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be proficient with technical software and a willingness to learn highly technical electrical details.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
