Job Description
This is supervisory, administrative and professional work planning, directing and organizing the operations and activities in a community-based group home that provides rehabilitative services for persons with developmental delays and disabilities. Assuming legal custody of group home residents; establishes guidelines and protocols, provides day-to-day supervision and monitoring of all group home programs, including: individual, family and group counseling programs, recreational, social, aftercare, educational and employment programs; hires, trains, assigns and reviews work and evaluates all group home staff, including professional, technical and administrative support employees; coordinates psychiatric, medical, educational and physical services for group home residents; develops and monitors facility and program budget; provides liaison with other professionals, the court system, schools and the public; and maintains program and individual client records and statistics in accordance with federal, state and local regulations. An employee in this class is "on call" for emergency situations on a 24-hour basis.
Minimum Qualifications Reading comprehension to read state administrative and program manuals and court reports. • Reviews court reports, treatment plans and quarterly reports to ensure quality, consistency and adherence too professional and state standards. Writing skills to compose and edit reports, proposals, procedures, policies, and recommendations. • Prepares and reviews program statistics to provide information on program performance; prepares statistical and narrative reports concerning program performance or service issues; makes recommendations as needed. Interpersonal skills to advise, clarify and present information. • Responds to clients, their attorneys, their families, the police, the public, and/or other agencies to assist in problem resolution, resolve complaints, and discuss policy. Arithmetic skills to add, subtract, multiply, or divide decimals or fractions and calculate percentages. • Prepares, controls and monitors the operating budget of the group home. Problem solving skills to define problems and collect relevant information to recommend solutions. • Advises or guides counselors on difficult issues that arise with the residents or their families. Considerable knowledge of the policies, regulations and techniques related too rehabilitative and counseling practices in a group home setting. Education and Experience Education: Completion of the requirements for graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Sociology or related field.
