Job Summary:
The Department of Medicine (DOM) Research Office has opening(s) for full-time University Staff Research Services Pre/Post Awards Professional (Open Rank) to serve as the Department’s Research Grant Analyst (Entry – Senior Level). As a Research Grant Analyst, you will be responsible for complex and varied research, financial and analytical work related to grant acquisition and management. Working under the direction of the Research Office Program and Grant Manager, this position has primary responsibilities to assist Principal Investigators (PIs) with coordination, administration, and management of research grants and contracts, as well as the implementation of finance, accounting, and procurement policies and processes. The position provides centralized support to the DOM Divisions Research Administrative teams to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, Sponsor, and University policies & procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Develops proposal and clinical trial budgets and routing documents in partnership with Principal Investigators.
Provide Principal Investigators with financial reporting, sponsor policy interpretations, and university best practices.
Provide financial projection forecasting and interpret funding for faculty (one-on-one meetings).
Enter funding distributions, Journal Entries, and Payroll Expenses Transactions for the assigned DOM Divisions and clear funding deficits.
Perform routine audits of payroll as well as other research expense transactions for Principal Investigators, fellows, and staff to ensure expenses are properly calculated and encumbered in their appropriate accounts.
Collaborate with Research Office staff on all internal awards from funding opportunity announcements, application organization, and execution of award documentation for all internal award recipients.
Maintain and triage messages from a shared email account in a timely manner.
Work Location:
Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 2-3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
Entry Level:
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, business, business administration, healthcare administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
Intermediate Level:
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, business, business administration, healthcare administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
One (1) year of professional level experience in a business or financial analysis role.
Senior Level:
A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, business, business administration, healthcare administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year-for-year basis.
Two (2) years of professional level experience in a business or financial analysis role.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in research administration, grant funding, forecasting, financial management and budgeting.
Experience with University of Colorado software and applications [e.g., InfoEd (proposal development and routing); m-Fin (financial reporting); CU Marketplace (procurement); PeopleSoft HCM and Finance; Concur Travel and Expense System].
Experience managing large, multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional NIH research grants.
Experience in accounting and/or finance responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the regulatory policies associated with the construction and submission of federal and private foundation grants (e.g., HIPAA and human subject protection, animal protocols).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Remain detail-oriented with changing priorities.
Adaptability to grant application-specific guidelines and the needs of different Principal Investigators (PIs).
Ability to work independently following training.
Customer service-oriented to work with diverse faculty and staff in multiple departments.
Ability to collaborate and form effective working relationships.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:
Entry Level: $48,071 - $61,146
Intermediate Level: $52,312 - $66,541
Senior Level: $56,544 - $71,936
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
