Position Summary:
Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller is responsible for performing professional accounting functions, including providing specialized and general financial analysis for Folio Fine Wine Partners. This position will manage the corporate accounting systems in an effective and efficient manner, ensuring that financial information is timely, accurate and complete.
Critical Tasks:
Corporate Accounting & Close (40%)
Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting principles and policies.
Supervise accountants in the process of daily AP/AR processing to ensure expenses and cash collections are made timely.
Assist Controller in the process of month end close, including reconciliation and posting necessary entries to appropriate departments and territories in the GL.
Accounting Special Projects (20%)
Work with Controller and COO to identify internal process improvements; recommend and implement improvements.
Perform guidance review of relative accounting standards and prepare a memo for new transactions.
Audit & Asset Protection (10%)
Perform Balance Sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP standards.
In tandem with Controller, manage the external accounting firm in conducting the annual audits.
Analysis & Reporting (20%)
Assist Controller with preparation of the required monthly/quarterly/yearly financial documents for the bank and the parent company.
Assist with monthly and quarterly cash flow projections.
Prepare regular financial analysis for management and other departments as needed.
Perform reconciliations on G/L accounts.
Filing and maintaining proper records per company and regulatory requirements.
Leadership (10%)
Work with Controller to develop a strong team of leaders, improving current performance and encouraging and allowing for growth, development and innovation.
Work with Controller to align the Accounting team with FFWP mission and vision, as well as Folio’s Culture.
Cultivate cross department relationships to ensure cohesiveness, strong communication and alignment throughout the company allowing for exceptional business results.
Actively develop your own Leadership style, knowledge and skillset.
Advise, establish and maintain the integrity of accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
Professional Requirements:
Education/Experience: BA/BS degree in Accounting or related field plus 3 years of Accounting experience; wine industry a plus. Experience in public accounting highly preferred.
Skills: Leadership and team process skills. Excellent analytical, problem solving and organization skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and delegate tasks as appropriate. Strong customer service skills with the ability to work successfully in partnership with financial and operations staff at all levels. Project management expertise, including the coordination and monitoring of projects in process, efficient multi-tasking. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Strong analytical skills
Knowledge: Accounting theory and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Knowledge of external financial reporting requirements. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Navision) preferred. Advanced Excel (including pivot tables & V-Lookup) and Word skills.
Physical: Ability to sit at a computer 6+ hours a day.
