Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Digital Content Specialist/Web Manager develops and delivers timely, engaging, creative and relevant website content for Smith School audiences to promote its various academic programs, research activities, and events; maintains brand consistency and assures all content is optimized for search engines; and tracks site traffic and assesses the success of content strategies. Working both as an individual contributor and in collaboration with members of the Marketing Communications team, the Digital Content Specialist will manage the creation and publishing of relevant, original, high-quality content, including creating editorial calendars and regular publishing schedules.
This position would be best suited for someone with strong project management skills; the ability to write compelling and direct copy; a firm command of data and its applications in marketing; a collaborative, team-focused personality.
Minimum Qualifications:Education:
Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field.
Experience:
5+ years of related professional experience in marketing, communications, and/or digital content development/management.
Experience with Google Analytics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to create engaging copy and manage digital content marketing campaigns.
Inventive, warm, and compelling copywriting skills.
Excellent visual, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Basic understanding of SEO (including web traffic metrics), content categorization and structure, content development, distribution, and measurement.
Ability to analyze and present useful metrics for content optimization.
Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents within a highly diverse university environment.
Ability to work quickly and meet deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple projects and stay organized.
Ability to take initiative, solve problems and deliver results without close supervision.
Knowledge of and basic skills with photo and video editing software and equipment.
