JUNIOR RADAR SYSTEMS ENGINEER

CLASSIFICATION: Junior Radar Systems Engineer; Salary TBD
GRADE: Exempt; Regular Full-time
LOCATION: National Radar Cross-Section Test Facility (White Sands Missile Range), Holloman AFB, NM
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Participate as a radar and signal processing Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Test Team IPTs. Lead System-of-Systems (SoS) configuration and performance evaluation during Test provisioning. Responsible for SoS design, development, and evolution. Lead diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairing radar and positioning systems as required. Research, prototyping, and analysis of emerging technologies. Prepare budgets and schedules. Recommend improvements to maintenance methods, system, and equipment performance as well as operational efficiencies. Train and mentor technicians.
GENERAL DUTIES: Knowledge of Radar theory, principles, and concepts. Knowledge RCS and ISAR concepts, algorithms, practices, and procedures. Entry level knowledge of electromagnetic phenomenology and wave propagation. Basic understanding of VHF-Ku ultra-wideband coherent radar systems. To include radar transmitter and receiver architectures and constituents; RF component specification and performance; analog-to-digital specifications and performance; waveform requirements; design and optimization; time, frequency and modulation domain test methods and test equipment; linear time invariant systems; spectral analysis; FIR filters; numerical methods. Entry level knowledge of positioning systems and automated controls. Basic understanding of Systems Engineering with a requirement to become knowledgeable on NRTF SE practices. Effective communication skills both verbally and written and understands the System Engineering process to include the ability to present/coordinate PDR’s, CDR’s, etc. and conduct FAT’s.

OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: BS in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent plus 3-8 years’ experience. Proficient in the use of Mathcad; MATLAB; Python; and Microsoft Office.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Top-Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Must possess a valid drivers’ license. Pre-employment drug testing is required. This position will require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules for extended periods of time. Must be willing to work overtime when required. Must be capable of working independently with minimal or no supervision. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Duties are normally performed in an office environment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 pounds. Must be capable of regularly climbing extension ladders, tower ladders, stepladders, and stairs. Requires bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and walking extensively on a regular basis.
