Job Title: Events Technician
Employment Status: Full-Time
Reports To: Events Production Manager
Position Summary
The Events Technician assists with the technical planning and execution of events and productions that turn our clients and guests into raving fans. He/she is part of a team that serves in technical roles for events and productions, including stage management, lighting, audio, projection, video production and streaming.
Duties and Responsibilities
Connecting with clients to confirm their requests. Provide technical assistance to internal and external events at the museum. Set up and striking of the equipment used. Help keep the event spaces up to date and running. Work with internal and external clients to plan and execute phenomenal events and productions. Work load-ins, rehearsals, events, shows, and load-outs with excellence, efficiency and safety. Facilitate great communication with front of house, event coordinators, facilities staff, and security. Work safely and maintain safe, clean, and orderly conditions in event and production spaces. Support the success of client technicians and visiting productions in event and production spaces. Support the Interactive Systems team’s Gallery operations, repair, and maintenance needs. Collaborate with the Interactive Systems and World Stage technical teams to organize and maintain portable and installed equipment and systems used in event spaces, as well as provide support to each other as museum gallery and events needs vary. Stay up-to-speed with advancements in event technology and take advantage of opportunities to grow technical and interpersonal skills.
Education
High School Graduate 3-5 years event tech experience High School Diploma; college degree a plus.
Qualifications
Sounding mixing event experience video experience lighting experience At least one year of experience with theatrical lighting, audio, video, projection, and streaming. Able to remain calm under pressure and troubleshoot in challenging situations. Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Comfortable communicating and working with people of highly varied roles and levels of technical experience. Self-starter and self-motivated to be challenged and grow in skills. Skills
Team player Organized Self-motivated Comfortable working with Windows and Mac computers for both office and technical uses and are familiar with IT networking as it relates to audio, video, and lighting systems.
Work Environment
Physical demands/requirements are as follows:
Sit for up to 8 hours a day.
Squat bending at the knees.
Stand for long periods of time.
