AP/AR Clerk
OVERVIEW OF THE HISTORY OF ELECTRO-METRICS
Electro-Metrics is a 60-year-old company located in Johnstown, New York, within the foothills of the scenic Adirondack Mountains—just under an hour away from Saratoga Race Course, Utica, and all the Capital Region has to offer while still tucked away from city life. We have two divisions. The oldest division is in the business of designing and building RF (Radio Frequency) Antennas that are used by military and intelligence agencies. There are literally hundreds of various products that are sold globally. The second division of the company is a traditional machine shop with CNC lathes and waterjets.
The company has nearly 60 employees today. The new owner has a desire to grow rapidly and has started investing in sales and marketing, culture and people, and technology and resources. As we approach our sixth decade in operation, we strive to continue to be a wonderful place to work.

JOB SUMMARY:
The AP/AR Clerk will support our financial department by performing various tasks related to the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable. This is an entry-level position where the individual will be given opportunities to grow and learn more about the business.
TOTAL COMPENSATION
Electro-Metrics believes in a comprehensive approach to compensation, including competitive base pay, discretionary bonuses, health/dental/vision/supplemental insurance coverage, above-market paid time off, and other non-tangible benefits. All job offers will include a statement of the total compensation package offered to the successful candidate.
Base Salary Range (Dependent upon experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities): $20-25/hour DOE, plus discretionary bonuses
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties as assigned):
- Process vendor invoices and issue payments in a timely manner.
- Maintain and organize vendor files and records.
- Process customer invoices, record payments, and perform account reconciliations.
- Follow up on outstanding payments from customers.
- Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare and maintain various financial reports.
- Support the team with ad-hoc tasks as required.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, practices, and procedures.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/WORK EXPERIENCE
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles.
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel).
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
WEEKLY WORK SCHEDULE:
M-F, 7.5 hour shift, flexible hours
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, including but not limited to Company policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurements, etc. relevant to technology data
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
- Process and record financial transactions in the general ledger
- Prepare and distribute invoices to customers
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding customer balances
- Perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy
- Assist with payroll processing and related accounting tasks
- Conduct data entry and maintain accurate financial records
- Support human resources department with financial data analysis
Requirements:
- Proven experience in accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and payroll management
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficient in data entry and 10-key typing
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping
- Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or trends
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
This position requires a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
