POSITION SUMMARY
The Finance Department of the Buffalo Bills has an opening for a Staff Accountant. The position will have a focus on the annual audit process, Salary Cap Reporting, monthly financial reporting, and NFL forecasting. Most of the accountant’s time will be spent working with the Controller and Assistant Controller with general ledger account reconciliations, recording and posting entries in the financial system, assisting with the preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and established Club polices, and perform ad-hoc accounting projects as requested by management. The work is highly confidential, and we would trust that the information stays in the office and is treated with the utmost privacy.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assisting the Controller and Assistant Controller with but not limited to the following:
General accounting functions relating to all month-end close, reconciliations, financial accuracy & financial reporting.
Prepare and perform monthly bank reconciliations, adjusting journal entries, and general accounting.
Provides asset and depreciation management.
Generates monthly reports as needed.
Assist with year-end financial audit and league reporting.
Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
Assist with the company-wide budgetary planning.
Prepare and analyze departmental financial statements with monthly distribution to department budget officers.
Provide A/R analysis and assist with collections.
Support financial planning and analysis projects.
Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate is a recent college graduate with a major in accounting and/or finance.
Prior internship/work experience in accounting and/or finance.
CPA license/eligibility preferred but not required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Ability to learn and navigate the organization’s accounting software.
Understanding of accounting principles and financial planning.
Demonstrates personal accountability, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a strong work-ethic.
Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Ability to analyze and evaluate financial data and effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of management demonstrating a strong balance of technical and interpersonal skills.
Interest in football is helpful but not necessary.
