Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant provides bookkeeping, accounting, assurance, and basic tax return preparation for clients of John F. Suby & Associates, S.C. in an efficient and timely manner. JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- License in Public Accounting in Wisconsin, or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in an individual or team environment
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Prior experience with Quickbooks is preferred, but not a requirement
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES
- Perform bookkeeping and payroll services for clients
- Prepare tax work papers, including trial balances, depreciation schedules and debt amortization schedules.
- Prepare individual, business, exempt organization and trust tax returns.
- Under supervision of professional staff, work on preparation, compilation, and review engagements of financial statements
- Prepare engagement correspondence.
- Enter data for computer applications.
- Prepare sales tax returns for clients.
- Prepare payroll tax returns for clients.
- Monitor in-house and external client deadlines to ensure compliance.
- Perform other bookkeeping related special projects and administrative tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Company’s shareholders or professional staff.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Staff Accountant must remain flexible year-round to work extra hours as needed to address client needs. This position requires additional hours and Saturday work from January through April. The Suby Group places a high level of importance on teamwork and a willingness to perform duties which may not be included in this Job Description.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work of the Staff Accountant is performed in a standard office environment. The Staff Accountant must have the manual dexterity to use a keyboard and 10-key calculator extensively. This position requires sitting for long periods of time and occasional bending, lifting and stretching. The Staff Accountant must also be able to lift up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. The ability to speak on the telephone to conduct business is required.
