Position Overview
The Accounting Clerk will perform clerical, bookkeeping, and accounting assignments and prepare accounting statements and financial reports.
Essential Functions
Prepares financial reports and various accounting statements.
Posts journal entries to general ledger.
Generates summary sheets to be used by supervisor or auditor.
Processes payroll and prepares necessary payroll reports.
Proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy.
Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures, with ability to train others i n related practices and procedures.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel and similar software.
Knowledge of spreadsheets and accounting software.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
NOTE: Pay rates are based off of experience and other factors.
Work Experience
This is an entry level position,but we do prefer that the candidatehave some Accounting/AR experience.
Education
Required Degree Level: High School
High school diploma or equivalent required, with some bookkeeping coursework (preferred).
